“Eating is an Agricultural Act?” The Ethics of Food and Eating
|
Paragraph 1: The food project was about the industrialization of food production, mainly in the U.S. the book we read described how he has streamlined food production by homogenizing crops, treating livestock poorly, pushing corn to the public through food products and the over processing of food.
Paragraph 2: Learning about this topic in both classes helped me develop a fuller understanding of the project. The information in chemistry gave me context to what I was reading in the book. Also the book helped me learn about how this food science is applied in everyday life. Paragraph 3: I learned a lot studying food academically. Firs, I learned that food and food production has changed immensely. Food has gotten a lot more artificial since the days of family farms. Also, I learned that corn has been pushed greatly in the modern american diet. I learned that to make food as cheap as most manufactures make it corners need to be cut. This includes the treatment of livestock. |

The Labor Project.
In the podcast “AI, Where To Next” we discussed automation in terms of the future of labor. We talked about advances in AI technology and how companies are using it to save money and improve efficiency. Also, we researched the advances in medical and military technology that AI is responsible for. These technologies include advanced military robots and AI software that treats patients based on medical history. We also uncovered the potential dangers of AI and modernization. Some of these potential dangers include job loss and A.I. becoming to powerful. This podcast features an interview from inventor Ryan Finnigan.
